FAQ — Central Jersey Firearm Instruction, LLC

Question 1

Do I need any prior experience to take a course?

Accepted Answer

No prior experience is required for our Basic Firearm Safety Course.   We welcome complete beginners. Our instructors are trained to meet students exactly where they are — no judgment, no assumptions.  We will guide you through the entire process of obtaining a Firearms ID Card, Permit to Purchase a Handgun, and applying for your Concealed Carry, should you choose to pursue that certification.  We will demonstrate and assist you in choosing what handgun works best for you, and let you practice with a variety of different handguns prior to you purchasing your own.

Question 2

What should I bring to class?

Accepted Answer

For classroom sessions: a valid photo ID and any required paperwork. For range sessions: closed-toe shoes, clothing that covers your arms and chest (no low-cut tops), and eye and ear protection (we can provide these if needed).  Firearms and ammunition are available for use during the Basic Firearm Safety Course if needed.  For the CCW class, you will need your firearm, 100 rounds of ammo and your concealed holster.

What types of courses do you offer?

Accepted Answer

Choose the Training That Fits Your Needs!  We offer both NRA-sponsored courses and non-NRA training, allowing you to choose the program that best fits your experience level, learning style, and goals.

They are an excellent choice for new or first-time firearm owners who want a strong foundation in firearm safety, handling, marksmanship, and responsible ownership.

For those with prior firearm experience, we also offer non-NRA courses, including New Jersey’s required CCARE Qualification and Use of Force training for a Permit to Carry.
